Mt. Baker, Boulder-Park Cleaver

Amar and Dave were planning on B-P Cleaver to Park HW over two days, Saturday and Sunday. I wanted to go along. But due to the after effects of a party on Friday night, we opted to postpone our plans to Monday, and go for the Headwall in a day. I was still feeling satisfied from my two trips to Adams, but I figured I could dredge up the ambition to go for it.

I went to bed at 10pm Sunday night. Due to some bonehead moron in the dorms who apparently can't make toast without setting off the fire alarms, my sleep quota for the night was -exactly- zero. I met Amar outside at 1:30; we picked up Dave, and we met Justin in the parking lot at 4:30 Monday morning. We started up the overgrown trail at 5, which brought us to the scramble up the cliff and the base of the cleaver at 7 or so.

Shuksan in the distance.

My motivation was curiously low (either that, or I'm just a fat weak pussy), so I opted for a nap at 7k while the others went ahead. I eventually made my sluggish way up to 8100 or 8200, while the others made it to 9100. It was too late for a summit attempt, so they decided to enjoy the snow and turned around. We had a great run down to the base of the cleaver, with some entertainment. I even managed to spray Justin and his exposed camera with snow. Sorry, man!

Justin rips it up while Dave and Amar kill film.

Justin catches sick air. The corn was stellar.

Now all that is left is a downclimb, a hike through the bog, then
three miles of up and down back to the car. Sweet.

A quick and painful hike brought us back to the cars. Justin waxed poetic about the trail for half an hour while waiting for Dave and Amar. El Gitano provided many calories to make sure that I slept on the drive back to Seattle.
